I'd Rather Be Single Page 6
Throughout the night, Michael was respectful, genuine and seemed to be all about me. He too came from a broken home, his mom and dad divorced when he was three and since then his mom raised him to be the man that he was today and so he respected women that much more.
We joked with each other throughout dinner, we shared the same sense of humor and I often felt his eyes on me as I ate.
“I like you a lot, Tyra,” he said to me.
“I like you too,” I said blushing.
After about the third date, Michael and I became an item. Besides him being away for his games, we spent most of our time together unlike Teddy and I. Teddy always used his family as an excuse not to spend time with me but now I knew it was because of his fiancé. I didn’t worry about that too much with Michael. He loved spending time with me and I took pride in calling myself his girl.
The first time Michael took me to his spacious five bedroom gated mansion in Medford was the first time that I gave myself to him. We wasted no time getting into it. We were naked in seconds. He laid me down on his king size bed, bent down on his knees and feasted on my pussy like he was eating his favorite dish. I moaned while feeling my orgasm peaking and in minutes my body released its juices into his mouth. He even licked the juices that escaped down my legs.
He stood tall, his athletic body was toned, sexy and breathtaking. Then I took a peek at his goods and recoiled. I was discouraged; I didn’t think I would be able to take it. I even had butterflies in my stomach. It was average in length but it was thick as a damn soda can. He smiled when he saw my eyes bucking in amazement. I noticed him reaching for a condom out of the Magnum box on his end table which read XXL instead of the standard XL magnums and his ass needed it because his shit was jumbo!
He climbed on top of me and I squeezed my eyes shut and braced myself for his entry. I dug my nails into his back and tried to take it. Once his big dick entered my canal, it gave me a feeling that I’ve never felt before. It was like his dick stayed in my G-spot the entire time, with each stroke, his dick landed right back in my G-spot. I had so many orgasms that I lost count. I stayed wet because his dick kept hitting every place that it was supposed to. I was literally having the best sex of my life. There was no need to be rough because his dick was doing all the work. He was caressing my titties while he stroked and kissed me erotically. Michael was so gentle and romantic, my body danced to the melody of his touches.
“Damn you’re so wet,” he kept repeating.
“Because this shit feels so good,” I kept telling him because it did; I didn’t want it to end. Michael was becoming my new addiction. Out of all the men I slept with, no one was comparable to him. And the fact that I already liked him made the sex that much better. I went home that night and dreamt about Michael. I hadn’t slept that good in years. And each time we had sex after that was always better than the last.
I was up bright and early getting ready for my hair appointment when Rodney called me asking for some money and again I agreed. Michael began giving me weekly spending cash to shop and pay bills so that’s why I agreed to break a little bit of bread with Rodney. I rushed the cash over to his aunt’s house. He was actually starting to annoy me because I still felt like I was supporting him. I noticed the same transgendered prostitute lingering by his aunt’s house trying to solicit him. The he-she would almost pass for a lady if it weren’t for the prickly mustache hairs coming out of his face.
“Didn’t’ I tell you to get the fuck away from here!” Rodney yelled at the prostitute!” The prostitute sucked his teeth and dramatically sashayed down the street.
“I thought you got a job?” I asked.
“I think I got it,” Rodney said, unsure. “I just need some extra pocket change to hold me down, I have business to handle,” he said.
“Okay well I gotta go,” I said leaving Rodney once again.
“Happy birthday,” he shouted.
I smiled, I knew he would remember. “Thank you, Rodney.” I said before I rushed off.
I didn't make too much of my birthday. I wanted to do something simple like host a spa day for Rosslyn and me. But being the good man that Michael was, he told me that he had something planned for us after basketball practice. My baby was so full of surprises that I didn't know what to expect. I spent the day getting dolled up. After I got my hair done, I retreated to the nail salon for a mani and pedi then I hit up the mall and found a beige strapless dress that was casual yet dressy. I wanted to wear something neutral since I didn't know what Michael had planned. I wore my China bang with the back in long curly tresses like the singer Ciara and the light nude lipstick on my lips set the dress off.
“Meet me at Faneuil Hall.” A text message came through my phone from Michael. I cheesed from ear to ear and then rushed out the door and made my way to the car.
I caught up with Michael at Houstons, a classy restaurant where people always had to drop top dollar on almost anything you ordered on the menu. We were seated in an orange leather sofa booth in the corner of the semi-crowded restaurant. Michael tried to make the night all about me but of course he signed a few shirts for fans who approached him.
He autographed one final shirt for a fan and then summonsed for the waiter.
“Waiter, can you make sure that this area stays private, I’m trying to enjoy time with my lady. Oh and also, bring over a bottle of your finest champagne,” he said, tipping the waiter with a hundred dollar bill.
“Baby, you don’t have to do all of this for me,” I said feeling like a queen. Michael was great about making me feel like I was the only woman in the world. I felt completely adored by him.
“What? It’s my lady’s birthday, you deserve my full attention. I know I been traveling a lot lately so every chance I get to spend with you I have to try to take advantage. You are special Tyra, I love you,” he said.
His words touched every sensitive chord in my body. If only he knew how much that four letter word meant to me. “Are you crying?” he asked.
“Yes,” I said as I tried to hold it in, but the tears still fell.
He stood to approach me, suddenly his mom, his two aunts and some of his teammates seemed to come out of nowhere. I was confused; I didn’t know what was going on. He bent down on one knee and asked, “Tyra, will you marry me?” My heart was floating outside of my chest. I was completely surprised. My stomach dropped to my feet and his mom and I seemed to share the same tears.
“Yes!” I shouted as I accepted the VVS rock that seemed the size of a walnut. Michael slipped it on my ring finger and I saw a tear glaze one of his eyes.
“Congrats man,” his teammates chorused rushing to hug him. His mom and aunts embraced me as they all flocked around me to admire the ring. Everyone was happy for us and my sensitivity couldn’t keep me from crying. My dreams were finally coming true; I had finally found true love in a man that was perfect in every way.
“I’m going to be happy to call you my daughter-in- law, Michael adores you,” Michael’s lovely mom said as she hugged me like I was already a part of her family. Her soul was so sweet and giving; I saw where Michael got his caring spirit from. I was over taken with joy; I didn’t know what to do with myself.
My birthday dinner ended up being our engagement party and I felt like royalty.
I had no family to call so of course on the way home I called Rosslyn to tell her my exciting news.
“Happy Birthday!” she blurted.
“Thanks, girl, I miss you,” I said. Then I indulged her in a regular conversation before telling her my good news. After all, we needed to catch up; I hadn’t seen her since I started spending all my time with Michael.
"So, Miss Rosslyn, I haven't been seeing you lately, let me find out Terry got you wifed up," I joked.
"Wifed up my ass! You know I ain't ever letting no one cuff me. And speaking of that, I know you heard about Terry being injured, he tore his ACL and it's not looking good for him this season."
"Yeah, girl I heard, hopefully he'll recover soon," I said, sympathizing with her.
"Girl, please, it's on to the next one for me, I got my eye on some new money. There is a new player on the Celtics team that will probably be the next Lebron James."
I rolled my eyes, nothing was good enough for Rosslyn; she had it all but wanted more.
"Now you know Terry adores you, it's time for you to retire from this game. I can see how much Terry is into you when I'm around; he got this sparkle in his eye when he's with you."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's been hinting around about a ring too but his ass is injured and the way it's looking he may not fully recover which could mean he'll be out of the NBA so he's being downgraded in my book."
"Girl if he wanna put a ring on it, you better let him! I would be so happy for the two of you." I said really meaning it.
"Tyra you still got the game wrong," she preached.
I cut her off.
"Well speaking of rings, my dude just proposed to me!" I said with excitement.
The phone was silent. Rosslyn had no reaction to my news.
"Hello? Rosslyn?" I called out.
"I mean, you sure that's what you want, Tyra?" Her tone was non-chalant.
"Rozz, you know that's what I want, you know I came into this for security but at the end of the day, love was what I was really yearning for and I found it. I got a good man, Rozz."
Rosslyn still hadn't said she was happy for me. Her tone throughout the conversation continued to be blah; she thought that I was making a mistake and that I should put money before love.
"Just be happy for me, Rozz okay?" I asked hoping she would finally tell me that she was happy for me but of course she didn't.
“What’s his name?” Rosslyn asked.
“I’m still not telling you
because I’m already in way too deep with him and I’m afraid of the dirt you are going to tell me about him so I rather for you to just meet him in person. I know that Terry Lamont's birthday party is tomorrow night so you'll finally get to meet my boo." I said proudly.
"Aiight, well I can't wait to see the man who you’re letting lock your ‘looking for love ass down’," she joked.
I smiled. "Well I'm sure you'll like him," I said. "And tell Terry Lamont's ass that I'm mad at him for having a birthday party at a club while he's on crutches."
Rosslyn laughed. "Girl, I don't care where he's having his party at or what he’s doing, that nigga just rented me a white SL Benz and I'm so in love with that shit, I'm thinking about asking him to buy it for me once the rental agreement is up."
"You are a mess, Rozz, see you tomorrow night," I said rolling my eyes as the conversation was about to turn into a money subject.
"Aiight, pretty bitch, I’ll see you tomorrow night."
"Bye."
I went to my apartment and packed some clothes to stay over Michael’s house that night. It was the first night that we were engaged so I planned to fuck his brains out. I brought over some sexy lingerie as well as my outfit for Terry’s party.
Our night was full of sucking and fucking. I put it down so that my baby would know what he was going to experience for life when I became Mrs. Slinks.
************
Michael planned to hit Teddy’s party with some of his teammates and I was going to show up on the dolo to meet Rosslyn. I didn’t want Michael to feel like I was smothering him so of course I was okay with letting him go with the fellas. Time seemed to have been moving on speed mode that day, it was almost 11p.m. when I looked at the clock, so I showered and quickly got dressed. I wore black leggings with a black fitted Dolce and Gabbanna clingy shirt and a tight black and gold waist belt. The leggings and shirt were almost the same stretchy material so it looked like I had on a cat suit. The belt made my now twenty six inch waist look even smaller than what it was and my hips and ass were on full frontal. Michael joked about my outfit before I left his house saying that I looked like Nicki Minaj.
I made my way to the front of the line and felt like a celebrity after telling the bald heavyset bouncer that I was Michael Slink’s fiancé and they let me right in.
“Look at you, you look nice!” Rosslyn announced as she approached me.
“Hey girl, you look cute too,” I said as I scoped out Rosslyn’s strapless purple dress with matching purple and silver Prada pumps.
“Come on, Terry is over here,” she yelled over the loud hip-hop music that was booming in the background and led me to Terry.
“Hey, happy birthday, Terry,” I said as I greeted him.
“Heeeey, Tyra, good to see you, happy belated birthday to you too,” he said before pulling me in for a hug.
I noticed Rosslyn’s face disapproved the hug but she knew I didn’t want Terry so as always I disregarded her.
Terry poured Rosslyn and I a full glass of Ace of Spades and we chilled in the VIP area on the stage staring into the highly populated club. Once again, the groupies were in the club in full force trying their hardest to get one of the baller’s attention.
“Smile bitch!” Rosslyn said as she snapped a picture of us with her camera phone. We were having a great time two-stepping to Lil Wayne and Drakes song, Money To Blow when I finally spotted Michael.
I tapped Rosslyn’s shoulder. “That’s him right there. That’s my baby, that’s Michael.”
“Where?” Rosslyn asked smiling in anticipation.
“Right there,” I said pointing to Michael as he and about four of his tall teammates were approaching the stage to enter the VIP area with us.
Suddenly Rosslyn’s smile became stale.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. My stomach had dropped, I was prepared for her to tell me that he was secretly married or that he was one of the broke athletes.
“What, Rosslyn?” I asked again.
“Don’t what Rosslyn me, that’s Michael Slinks, that’s the one I was telling you about. They say he’s going to be like the next Lebron James. I had my eye on him for a while now; you can’t date him, that’s me!” She said hitting her hand on her chest.
“Huh? What do you mean I can’t date him? How was I supposed to know you had your eye on him?”
Michael tapped me from behind interrupting our apparent dispute and I greeted him with a hug. When I turned back in Rosslyn’s direction she was nowhere to be found.
“Hold on baby,” I said to Michael as I tip toed to look around trying to find Rosslyn but she was nowhere in sight.
“Terry! Terry!” I called out approaching Terry Lamont.
“Where did Rosslyn go?” He bent his tall ass down to hear me.
“I don’t know, maybe she went to the bathroom,” he said with a shrug.
After fifteen minutes of looking for Rosslyn, she was still nowhere around so I gave up on looking for her. I played with my engagement ring on my finger and was hurt that I wasn’t able to show it to her. Michael took my hand and led me around to all of the teammates who weren’t around the day he proposed to show off my rock. I was hurt inside thinking about Rosslyn but managed to uphold somewhat of a smile because Michael was ecstatic to show off his new fiancé.
A week went by, no calls or no texts from Rosslyn and she damn sure didn’t answer any of my calls. I couldn’t understand why she was so mad at me. Terry Lamont was one of the most prominent players on the Celtics team and on top of that, he was head over heels for her, why did she want Michael so bad? I had to go get things right with my homegirl so I stopped by her apartment unannounced.
She opened the door and rolled her eyes before widening it to let me in.
“Is it really like that Rosslyn?” I asked after noticing how stank her attitude was.
“Yeah bitch it’s like that!” she said bluntly.
My eyes bucked at her remark.
“Why are you disrespecting me? I thought that we were friends. I really care about our friendship,” I said with a lump in my throat, on the verge of tears.
Rosslyn let out a devilish giggle. “Haa, friends? Don’t you get it, Miss Naïve? No one in this world is your friend, it’s a dog eat dog world. Didn’t I teach your dumb ass anything?” She began pointing in my face. “See what your problem is, is that you put your trust into too many people, that’s why you always go and get your pretty little heart broken.”
I was offended by her words yet I still didn’t want to lose her friendship. She and Michael were all that I had as family and I intended to make things right with her. She couldn’t throw our friendship away over a man, I couldn’t let that happen.
Somehow in her eyes this situation was more than about a man, it was about money and it was about what she thought belonged to her.
“Fuck our friendship!” she pronounced in a high tone.
I was baffled; she made me feel like our friendship was never real and so I tried again to gather some understanding.
“Rosslyn?” I called out.
Rosslyn’s red nightgown was disheveled and she looked like a crazy woman. I had never seen her look so beat. Her weave was matted at the roots and her eyes teared up. I peered over at her counter and noticed several pill bottles with the tops off. I didn’t know what she was on but she was acting crazy as shit.
“You are just like my father; you want to take everything from me!” she yelled.
“Huh?” I asked confused.
“Rosslyn, Michael was never yours,” I told her.
“Aaahhhhhhhhhhh!” she yelled a deranged scream at the top of her lungs pulling on her hair like a mental patient.
“Get out, Tyra, get the fuck out of my house!” she screamed.
